RESUMO O tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum) é um dos peixes de água doce mais produzidos na piscicultura brasileira. No entanto, sua eficiência produtiva associada ao refinamento das formulações de dietas é limitada devido à falta de informações sobre as exigências nutricionais de determinados aminoácidos essenciais, como a valina. Objetivou-se estimar a exigência de valina para o tambaqui com diferentes pesos corporais. Um total de 720 juvenis foi utilizado nos experimentos, o primeiro com 360 peixes com peso médio inicial de 33,28 ±0,19 g e o segundo com 360 peixes (121,19 ±1,29 g). Os experimentos foram conduzidos em dose-resposta com cinco níveis de valina (5,0; 7,0; 9,0; 11,0 e 13,0 g/kg de dieta) e quatro repetições por tratamento. A dieta controle foi obtida pela adição de L-valina à dieta contendo 5,0 g/kg de dieta (primeiro nível de valina testado), de modo que atingiu a dieta contendo 7,0 g/kg de dieta, correspondente ao segundo nível testado. Foram realizados análise de variância dos dados, teste de Dunnett’s para comparação com dieta controle e análise de regressão. Os resultados para a ingestão de valina, ganho de peso, taxa de crescimento específico, taxa de conversão alimentar foram significativamente melhorados pela valina dietética (P<0,05) em ambos os experimentos. Os níveis dietéticos de valina exerceram efeitos quadráticos sobre a proteína corporal, gordura corporal, deposição de proteína corporal e eficiência de retenção de nitrogênio do tambaqui com 33 g e 121 g, sendo a deposição de gordura corporal afetada pelo nível de valina somente no tambaqui com 33 g. Com base na análise de regressão quadrática dos dados de deposição de proteína corporal, as exigências dietéticas de valina de tambaqui (33,0 g-83,0 g) e (121,0 g-277,0 g) foram estimadas em 11,9 g/kg da dieta e 9,1 g/kg da dieta, respectivamente.

ABSTRACT Tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum ) is one of the highly produced freshwater fish in Brazilian fish farming. However, its production efficiency associated with the refinement of diet formulations is limited due to a lack of information on nutritional requirements for certain essential amino acids such as valine. This study was designed to estimate the valine requirement of tambaqui having different body weights. A total of 720 juveniles were used in the feed trials. The first trial consisted of 360 fish with an average initial weight of 33.28 ±0.19 g, and the second trial comprised 360 fish (121.19 ±1.29 g). The trials consisted of dose-response experiments with five levels of valine (5.0, 7.0, 9.0, 11.0, and 13.0 g/kg diet) and four replicate tanks per treatment. The control diet was obtained by adding L-valine to the diet containing 5.0 g/kg diet (the first level of valine tested) to ensure it reached the diet containing 7.0 g/kg diet, corresponding to the second level tested. Analysis of variance, Dunnett’s test for comparison with the control diet, and regression analysis were performed. The results showed that the valine intake, weight gain, specific growth rate, and feed conversion ratio were significantly improved by the dietary valine (P < 0.05) in both trials. Dietary levels of valine exerted quadratic effects on body protein, body fat, body protein deposition, and nitrogen retention efficiency of tambaqui with 33 g and 121 g as body fat deposition was affected by the dietary valine level only in tambaqui weighing 33 g. Quadratic regression analysis of body protein deposition data revealed the optimum dietary valine requirement of tambaqui (33.0 g-83.0 g) and (121.0 g-277.0 g) as 11.9 g/kg diet and 9.1 g/kg diet, respectively.

RESUMO O cruzamento de espécies de peixes nativas é uma técnica para produzir híbridos que possam expressar maior ganho de peso e eficiência alimentar quando comparado às espécies parentais. A exigência de treonina digestível em dietas para alevinos de tambatinga (Colossoma macropomum ♀ x Piaractus brachypomus ♂) foi estudada. Utilizaram-se 700 alevinos com peso médio inicial de 2,39 ±0,02 g e peso final de 35,96 ± 2.03 g, distribuídos em delineamento inteiramente casualizado composto por seis tratamentos (0,600; 0,800; 1,000; 1,200; 1,400 e 1,600% de treonina digestível) e cinco repetições por tratamento, com vinte peixes por unidade experimental. As rações foram formuladas pela técnica da “diluição de dietas”, utilizando o conceito de proteína ideal. Avaliaram-se o desempenho, a eficiência alimentar, as deposições de proteína, cinzas e gordura corporal e a eficiência de retenção de nitrogênio. O nível de treonina digestível que otimizou o ganho de peso, taxa de crescimento específico e conversão alimentar foi de 1,40; 1,27 e 1,10%, respectivamente. A deposição de gordura corporal reduziu de forma quadrática (p<0,01), e as deposições de proteína e cinzas corporais, juntamente com a eficiência de retenção de nitrogênio foram otimizadas com valores de 1,20; 1,33 e 0,82% de treonina digestível, respectivamente. A recomendação do nível de treonina digestível na dieta para alevinos de tambatinga é de 1,20 a 1,40% (0,40 e 0,47% Mcal de DE-1), por proporcionar maior deposição corporal de proteína e ganho de peso, respectivamente.

ABSTRACT Cross breeding of native fish species is a technique to produce hybrids that can express higher weight gain and feed efficiency compared to the parental species. The digestible threonine requirement in diets for tambatinga fingerlings (Colossoma macropomum ♀ x Piaractus brachypomus ♂) was determined in this study. For this, 700 fingerlings with an average initial weight of 2.39 ±0.02 g and average final weight of 35.96 ±2.03 g were distributed in a completely randomized design consisting of six treatments (0.600, 0.800, 1.000, 1.200, 1.400, and 1.600% digestible threonine) and five replicates per treatment, with 20 fish per experimental unit. Diets were formulated by the “diet dilution” technique using the ideal protein concept. Performance, feed efficiency, body depositions of protein, ash and fat, and nitrogen retention efficiency of the fish were evaluated. The digestible threonine levels that optimized weight gain, specific growth rate, and feed conversion ratio were 1.40, 1.27 and 1.10%, respectively. Body deposition of fat was reduced in a quadratic manner (p<0.01), and the body depositions of protein and ash, together with the efficiency of nitrogen retention, were optimized by the digestible threonine level of 1.20; 1.33, and 0.82%, respectively. The recommended digestible threonine level in the diet for tambatinga fingerlings is 1.20 to 1.40% (0.40 and 0.47% Mcal DE-1) to obtain higher body deposition of protein and weight gain, respectively.

RESUMO A metionina é um aminoácido essencial e, geralmente, o primeiro limitante em dietas para o tambaqui, principal peixe nativo produzido na aquicultura continental da América do Sul. No entanto, há uma carência de informações sobre suas exigências de aminoácidos, especialmente para mantença e eficiência de utilização. O presente estudo teve como objetivo determinar a exigência de metionina mais cistina para mantença e eficiência de utilização do tambaqui com diferentes pesos corporais. Foram realizados dois experimentos utilizando 250 tambaqui com pesos de 100 e 300 g, distribuídos em delineamento inteiramente casualizado, com quatro tratamentos (0,264; 0,396; 0,528 e 0,660% de metionina mais cistina digestível) e cinco repetições. Foi realizado um tratamento controle (TC), com adição de metionina no primeiro nível (0,264%) até que o segundo nível fosse alcançado (0,396%). A exigência para mantença foi determinada pela análise de regressão entre o consumo de metionina mais cistina digestível e a retenção de proteína igual a zero, e a eficiência de utilização foi determinada utilizando o valor do coeficiente de inclinação da reta obtida pela regressão linear. A retenção de proteína e metionina dos tambaqui de 100 a 300 g foram comparados pelo teste de paralelismo e não foi observada diferença entre os parâmetros das equações, indicando a necessidade de apenas uma equação para descrever as respostas aos pesos corporais. Assim, a exigência de metionina mais cistina digestível para mantença do tambaqui com pesos de 100 a 300 g é de 60,47 mg kg-0,7 dia-1 e a eficiência de utilização de 42%.

ABSTRACT Methionine is an essential amino acid, and generally, the first limiting one in the diets of tambaqui, the main native fish produced in continental aquaculture in South America. However, there is a lack of information on their amino acid requirement, especially for maintenance and efficiency of utilization. The present study aimed to determine the requirement of [methionine plus cystine] for the maintenance and efficiency of utilization using tambaqui of different body weights. Two experiments were carried out using 250 tambaqui with weights of 100 and 300 g. They were distributed in a completely randomized design with four treatment groups (0.264, 0.396, 0.528, and 0.660% of digestible [Met + Cys]), five replications. The control treatment (CT) was performed with the addition of methionine at the first level (0.264%) until the second level was reached (0.396%). The maintenance requirement was determined by the regression analysis between the consumption of [Met + Cys] and protein retention equal to zero. The efficiency was determined using the value of the slope coefficient of the line obtained by the linear regression. The protein and methionine retention values of tambaqui weighing 100 to 300 g were compared by the parallelism test, and no difference was observed between the parameters of the equations indicating the need for only one equation to describe the responses to body weights. The requirement of digestible [Met + Cys] for the maintenance of tambaqui with weights from 100 to 300 g was 60.47 mg kg-0.7 day-1 and the efficiency of utilization of 42%.

RESUMO Objetivou-se determinar a exigência de triptofano digestível para alevinos de tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum) e sua relação com a lisina digestível. Foram utilizados 300 alevinos de tambaqui com três pesos iniciais (2,12 ± 1,19; 8,13 ± 0,75 e 15,18 ± 1,91 g) em delineamento em blocos ao acaso, composto por seis tratamentos (0,225; 0,256; 0,288; 0,319; 0,350 e 0,381% de triptofano digestível) e cinco repetições com dez peixes por parcela. A relação do triptofano com a lisina foi estimada utilizando como referência o nível de 1,78% de lisina digestível. Foram avaliadas variáveis de desempenho e eficiência alimentar, as deposições corporais de proteína, gordura e cinzas e a eficiência de retenção de nitrogênio dos peixes. O consumo de ração e a eficiência de retenção de nitrogênio não variaram. Para o consumo de triptofano digestível, conversão alimentar e deposição de cinzas, o modelo que melhor se ajustou foi o Linear Response Plateau, melhorando com a elevação da concentração de triptofano até os níveis de 0,335; 0,276 e 0,259%, respectivamente. O ganho de peso, taxa de crescimento específico, eficiência de triptofano digestível para o ganho de peso e as deposições de proteína e gordura aumentaram de forma quadrática com a elevação dos níveis de triptofano, estimando os níveis ótimos de 0,320; 0,310; 0,280; 0,323 e 0,299%, respectivamente. A recomendação do nível de triptofano digestível em rações para alevinos de tambaqui é de 0,323%, correspondente a 0,108% / Mcal de energia digestível e relação do triptofano com a lisina digestível de 18%.

ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to determine the digestible tryptophan requirement of tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum) fingerlings and its relationship with digestible lysine. A total of 300 tambaqui fingerlings with three initial weights (2.12 ± 1.19, 8.13 ± 0.75, and 15.18 ± 1.91 g) were distributed in a randomized complete block design, consisting of six treatments (0.225, 0.256, 0.288, 0.319, 0.350, and 0.381% of digestible tryptophan) and five replicates of 10 fish per plot. The tryptophan to lysine ratio was estimated using a 1.78% level of digestible lysine. Variables regarding performance, food efficiency, and body deposition of protein, fat, and ashes, and nitrogen retention efficiency were evaluated. Feed intake and nitrogen retention efficiency did not vary. For the digestible tryptophan intake, feed conversion and body deposition of ashes, the model that best fit was the Linear Response Plateau, with these variables improving with the elevation of digestible tryptophan concentration up to the levels of 0.335, 0.276 and 0.259%, respectively. Weight gain, specific growth rate, digestible tryptophan efficiency for weight gain, and body deposition of protein and fat increased in a quadratic manner with elevated digestible tryptophan levels; the estimated optimal levels were 0.320, 0.310, 0.280, 0.323 and 0.299%, respectively. The recommended digestible tryptophan level in rations for tambaqui fingerlings is 0.323%, corresponding to 0.108%/Mcal of digestible energy with a digestible tryptophan to lysine ratio of 18%.
